Testing the mic for our class with Jade Shutes at @aromaticstudies 😉 Isn't she gorgeous? And this beautiful Borage is the very first flower of the season in my garden on Crete this year. Just in time for this weekend that will be dedicated to Aromatherapy and the Skin at the Aromatic Scholars course we are teaching together with Jade - I am so excited about it and to blend in whatever we manage to on the Zoom class. It's not always sunny and happy, and we know this now to the extreme. One of the reasons I voluntarily appointed myself as an ambassador to the plant world is to help others notice - or with more fancy terms 'develop mindfulness/become aware/raise consciousness' - by connecting with the most everyday and profound gifts around us. The beings that offer themselves for us as food and medicine, and the reinstatement of joy that is medicine itself.

For a bit of thought-provoking: whether you walk in nature, on the streets without green, or between the long isles of supermarkets heavily packed with the fruits that come from the land. Not only the connection is lost, and people have become so distant from the very nature of life (or maybe romantic pictures remained there as sentimental old memories), but 'earthy' things generally got disregarded and considered inferior.

And the more comfortably we want everything to be provided, the longer the poisoning of the land, and the Earth will continue. As this is the law of quick turnover, accepted methods of standardisation, and just a model of easy lifestyle. Around the globe indeed. Where celebrated specialists are disconnected from the whole, and where lack of a holistic view keeps ruling.

And unrecognisably, that's just giving personal responsibility away and making it a worldwide social game. Can you see my point? Have a great day, with a balance of laughter and contemplations! 🌿💝

One butterfly after the other! Hidden for a while, but yes, there was a partner in the scene, in the very same room, yet I only discovered him some time later. Him? Yes, patterns of butterfly wings may help to recognise male and female...

Anyway, I thought to uncover some other parts of the puzzle. Such as that the Red Admiral caterpillar's primary host plant is the stinging nettle, so it is no surprise they are around my garden which is fully covered in nettles right now. Since these events also coincided with the arrival of a very special gift parcel, here is a first garden shot with insights to Nettles.

Speaking of vulnerability. This beautiful butterfly literally followed us from the garden into the house yesterday. She is called the Red Admiral or Red Admirable (talkative name) and was pretty calm and comfortable in walking on my hand. She was using my fingers as a perch, and enjoying some fun time took my breath away! It is such an honour when someone feels so confident with being in close intimacy with you, as if placing their lives into your hands.

I am feeling blessed every time sentient beings - people, plants, or animals - allow this to happen in my presence. And while we are currently missing physical intimacy, a lot of people also have to handle and to realise how far they have gone in losing emotional intimacy, first with themselves, and then with others.

So I am happy to share with you these images, and perhaps suggest to consider our special visiting butterfly as an animal spirit for personal transformation. Whoever needs that, be invited and call this grounded bold energy into your life! 💝

Another capture on Wild Clary (Salvia verbenaca) on the roads where I walk, such an interesting being to observe and be with. We keep crossing paths in the previous years, but as with such a scarcity as the way he grows. I say he, but in fact it feels more as Wild clary unites the two qualities. A balance of yin and yang to me.

And it feels appropriate to add here a description of their cousins, Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) by Valerie Ann Worwood: "The abundance within this fragrance is captivating, full of prosperity of the spirit.
