Welcome to our walk in our natural kingdom!

Our friend Manolis who is a biological farmer and plant lover, had the inner desire and need that guided him to share and offer us the chance to experience and learn how to identify wild edible plants, herbs, and greens that grow in the abundant nature of Crete.

This time we welcome children to walk with us through the fallen leaves of the oak tree and listen to their song like a prophecy to your ears, the soft wind filling the atmosphere with the subtle smell of cyclamen, the valeriana standing up by the edge of the rock, and maybe a morchella mushroom waiting unexpectedly inside a crack of the rock… This is spring when you find surprises everywhere… if you are open to them.

Through a guided walk we will be given the opportunity, through activating your senses, to be able to identify and recognise our plant kingdom. We will see, touch, smell, taste, gather and allow our minds to travel… and step into timelessness.

Meeting place: old school of Paidochori
Time: gather at 9:30, we will leave at 9:50
Duration of walk: about 3 hours.
Length is about 4 km. It will be an easy walk, but you must be in good heath and physical condition. We suggested to wear boots and trousers. Children are welcome.

At the end of the walk we will sit down and share our experiences during a small lunch of home-made delicacies of the season with paximadi, olives, cheese & wine.

This class is not primarily for collecting horta for personal cooking, but if you want to collect a portion for your own use, please bring your knife and bag.

In case it is raining, we will feel the sense of spring rain!

Registration

Contribution: 10 EUR per person
This walk is limited to 15 people. If you want to join, please let us know in advance.
